Advanced Classes
For The Right Steps Basic Training and Advanced Class Graduates Only
Prerequisite: These Classes are only for The Right Steps Graduates of Surviving Puppyhood, Surviving Adolescence, and Adult Dog Training Classes. Dogs must be Dog/Human Friendly and not Reactive or Aggressive.
6 Weeks Total - Once a Week for 6 Weeks - 2 Puppies/Dogs Minimum -to- 4 Puppies/Dogs Maximum '&' 1 Adult Minimum-to-2 Humans Total Same Household Maximum Per Puppy/Dog to allow for a Small Focused Personalized Class Experience and allow more floor space to work each Puppy/Dog.
Our Advanced Classes are structured to begin to prepare our Students who want their dogs to have more training (proofing basic training and focus around distractions), begin to prepare for a better Trained Dog with Real Life Distrations, Pet Therapy Dog Goals, Canine Good Citizenship Test Goal, Performance Dog Goals to name a few. We will be changing it up a bit from or Basic Class where we worked the puppies/dogs in front of us and begin working dogs on the Left Side of your body.
Advanced Level 1 & 2: All Weeks are at The Training Facility. All weeks are with the dogs, no lecture. Available only to Graduates of The Right Steps Basic Training Classes - Who are still both Dog and Human Friendly - These Classes are not appropriate for puppies/dogs with Reactivity and/or Aggression Issues.
Lesson Plan: Increased Distractions when working on basic cues on your Left Side (Sit, Down from a Sit and from a Stand, Sit Stay, Down Stay, adding a Release Word for the Stays, Recalls (Regular & Emergency), Loose Leash Walking, & Attention Walking/Heel), Leave It, Sit/Stays & Down/Stays at Client's Left Side while a stranger approaches and asks to pet your dog (goal is to hold the stay and not jump ultimately for handshakes and petting dog), while attention walking/heeling add in at your side sits, sit then down, and downs from a stand, long line recalls, and emergency recalls. Calmly attention walking heel past another handler/dog heeling. Level 1 and 2 will slowly build your solid foundation one baby step at a time.
Advanced Level 3: All Weeks are Field Trips. All weeks are with the dogs, no lecture. As weather allows, taking your Training from the prior Classes with us out on the Road. Apply your Training to real life situations. 2 to 6 Puppies/Dogs Maximum. Only available to past graduates of The Right Steps Basic and Advanced Level 1 & 2 Training Classes - Who are still both Dog and Human Friendly - These Classes are not appropriate for puppies/dogs with Reactivity and/or Aggression Issues.
