#1: *Advanced Classes (C.G.C. Test & Rally Class Prep Classes) are offered Tuesday Evenings.... Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 The goal of this class is to build better reliability with the skills taught in the Junior/Senior Puppy Class and Adult Dog Class. We will work on building up the puppy's/dog's ability to work in the midst of distraction, and owners will learn in more detail how to make distractions work for them. These classes will begin to focus on exercises that will begin to prepare students for the C.G.C. Test (Canine Good Citizen Test) & Rally Classes.

Have completed one of the following ~
Jr.
Puppy Class, Sr. Puppy Class, Adult Dog Class, &/or 3
Private Lessons. Puppies/dogs must be both dog & people
friendly / no aggression please. Beginning to have pups/dogs sit at our sides with attention walking/heel. Learn a "Leave It" cue. Add a release word to your Stays. Learn Tricks for fun and bonding time. Begin basic Rally moves and positions. This class is a great starting point for those who want to do the Rally For Fun Classes! Goal of
these classes will be to promote calm behavior and increase puppies
focus on their owners. Focus will be puppy/owner focus versus
puppy/puppy play ~ important as it is more like real life (when out
in public we want to be the center of our puppy's focus versus the
other dogs, people, squirrels, etc.). Begin to learn basic
Rally moves that will be needed to know in the Rally for Fun
Classes. Maximum 7 puppies/dogs per class. No Refunds/Not transferable. Current Dates: *Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 *Please note: This Class is scheduled to graduate Tuesday, April the 20th, 2010. Class Time: 7:40p.m.-8:40p.m. The classes will be held 7:40p.m. and run for 60 minutes. This classes does not include an off leash play session. All 6 weeks are with puppies/dogs. No lecture. "For Application scroll down to the black bar for links in Blue Writing." Fees: Puppy Plus Class - the cost for a six-week session is $125.00 Cash or Check by mail or in person. #2: *Field Trip Classes are offered Sunday Afternoons.... *"Sunday, "Spring 2010" ~ "Date to be announced". *Please Note: Due to winter weather on the way our next Field Trip Classes will return Spring of 2010. Prerequisite: Have completed one of the following ~ Jr. Puppy Class, Sr. Puppy Class, Adult Dog Class, &/or 3 Private Lessons. Puppies/dogs must be both dog & people friendly/ no aggression please. For owners who want to continue to build on their puppy's ability to work with distractions. Heeling and stays will be emphasis in this class. Goal will for puppies to focus on their owners and ignore distractions. Dog/Owner ~ to ~ Dog/Owner heel toward each other then stop, sit, and people greet will be worked on. Down Stays will be focused on whether owner is standing or sitting. Dogs will be used in place of cones in a sit or down stay position as other owners use them to heel around with their dogs. Working on owner leaving the puppy with Trainer and going out of sight (starting with 30 seconds) to help prepare for the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Test. Calm behavior and focus here are the goals. As we will be in public safety for all is a must at all times! Puppies/Dogs will be kept on (loose) "short" leashes by owner's sides, when around people/public at all times. Field trip/open forum! Each week we will go to a new local place of my choice! Goal is to get out and continue training with distractions, while experiencing new sites! Need to be willing to drive (Orangevale, Fair Oaks, Citrus Heights, Roseville, Folsom, Granite Bay, Elverta, Sacramento, and/or El Dorado Hills) and get out of your normal routine! Examples of potential locations: Local Parks (no fees), Shopping Centers (no fees), a trip to the Sacramento County Park/American River Parkway Park/Trail (day fee), and Granite Bay/Folsom Lake Trails (day fee). For places where a fee applies, bring exact cash, as some places may have pay stations and some may have self pay (important to pay as areas are patrolled by Park Ranges who's job is to give tickets/fines for visitors who do not pay). If you are interested in buying an annual pass for either the State of CA Park System and/or Sacramento County Park System please visit their website direct or contact them directly. Class is 45 minutes, no play, open forum. Homework between classes is a must out in the real world. Maximum 6 (7 on exception base only/Trainer's discretion) puppies per class. No Refunds/Not transferable. Please choose your Class Date and Time carefully as there are "no" free make up group class sessions offered. For students who miss a week, the homework is sent out via e-mail, so the said student may keep up with the class. Additional Fees: 4 Maximum (potentially) County Park Fees &/or State of CA Park 'Day Use Parking Fees' ~ Pay as you go, bring exact cash on days of field trip classes. (Day fees normally run around $5.00 County/$10.00 State). However, we normally only end up doing a maximum of 3-4 County Parks, no State Parks, then the other 2-3 locations are local parks or shopping centers (free parking). Rain 'or' Heat Days: For Field Trips Classes ~ Notification sent via e-mail by 9:30a.m. Sunday if class canceled due rain or excessive heat! Rain or heat days will be made up, weeks continue consecutively until graduation (students need to allow flexibility in their schedules for these possibilities). Check your e-mail prior to class times ~ If in doubt call: Cindy's Cell# 916-698-0525 (leave message if get voice mail and you will receive a call back). *Prerequisites of the above Advanced Classes: #1: Advanced Puppy Class: Have completed one of the following ~ Jr. Puppy Class, Sr. Puppy Class, Adult Dog Class, &/or 3 Private Lessons. Puppies/dogs must be both dog & people friendly / no aggression please. #2: Field Trip Class Prerequisite: Have completed one of the following ~ Jr. Puppy Class, Sr. Puppy Class, Adult Dog Class, &/or 3 Private Lessons. Puppies/dogs must be both dog & people friendly / no aggression please. For dogs not meeting the above requirements, please see our: "Adult Dog Basic Training Group Class", as these classes are for 'existing' The Right Steps Clients. Proof/Copies of all vaccines are required: We will require the name of your veterinarian to be able to call and confirm vaccine status. Written proof (copies I may keep of Veterinarian Receipts) to verify puppies vaccines are required prior to the puppy coming to class. "Puppies must be current on all vaccines. Puppies 6 months and older must provide proof of Rabies Certificate". Bordetella is "highly" recommended every 6 months, to avoid the contact and/or spread of the Kennel Cough Virus. NO people, children, or dog aggressive dogs are allowed. (Puppies or dogs found to be aggressive in class will be pulled from future classes and class fee will be prorated and returned based on number of classes attended.) Aggressive dogs will be referred out for Special Training/Private Lesson options. No choke chains, prong collars, or flexi-leads are allowed. Classes are structured to be fun and positive. Children Ages 10 Years & Older: Well-behaved children age 10 years and older are encouraged to take part in training with the family and their dog with parental supervision at all times. See Facility Rules for further details in full. Children & Field Trip Portion of Classes: 2 Adults minimum when children attending (one to work the dog and one to supervise the child) for safety of all. For families with young children age 9 years and younger and/or childcare issues we do offer Private Lessons by appointment for both puppies and dogs and their families. Standard Private Lesson Fee applies. Parents are responsible for their children’s actions at all times, this includes not only how they work with their own puppy or dog, but also how they conduct their actions in the facility both with other dog owners and their dogs. Courtesy to all and safety is a must! Well-behaved children are encouraged to take part in training with the family and their dog. Parents with disruptive children will be ask to leave for that session and the children will not be able to attend future training sessions. Class size is limited to 7 dogs. The first class will be held with the dogs. No Refunds/Not transferable. PayPal: Clients may use their Credit Card via Pay Pal for convenience. Cash or checks only please. There are no refunds for this class and the class is not transferable. Owners are purchasing a class space whether owner or dog is or is not present. We encourage owners to come out and watch a class before making their final decision to sign up. A Make Up Lesson is available for one Specialty Class week's Lesson as: one 45 minute Private Lesson located at The Right Steps Training Facility by Appointment: $50.00 (for 45 minutes) cash (Tues. & Thurs. mornings or afternoons by appt.).
