Facility Rules Welcome to The Right Steps PeeWee Play a Small Dog Play Group: Inside Facility with heat & air! Peewee Play! is a "fun" supervised Small Dog Play group/session for friendly Small Breed Dogs 15 lb. and under and over 16 weeks of age.
Proof of Vaccines (Veterinarian Receipts/Copies we may keep): Current vaccines are required, including Bordetella and Rabies Certificate!
Dogs must play nicely with other dogs and enjoy being around people!
Please note: Older dogs that are not tolerant of puppy antics and become aggressive (overly growly, snarly) will be removed from play. Dogs that play too rough for the others within the group as a whole will be removed from play. Dogs that resource guard toys, water bowls, &/or their owners will be removed from play and unable to attend future sessions.
The Right Steps reserves the right to decline any dog’s and/or their owner's participation in the play group for any reason and at any time. These are play sessions for small dogs who like and wish to play with other small dogs. This is not a forum for socializing questionable or shy dogs, nor is it intended to rehabilitate dogs who are dog or people-aggressive! These sessions are meant to be fun for dogs and their owners. Trainer decision is final and non-negotiable.
The Small Dog Play Group is created to allow both dogs and owners to have a nice and fun experience with other dogs and people while dogs play with other small dogs their size. The Right Steps promotes reward based and dog friendly training methods, harsh corrections will not be tolerated in the Training Facility or Parking area. The goal of the small dog play group is for dogs to relax and have fun, not to be used as training sessions.
These are supervised play sessions. Owners are responsible for their dogs actions at all times, please keep an eye on your dog during the play session. The Trainer may ask you to interrupt your dog's play temporarily at any time for excessive barking, play that is deemed too rough by the Trainer, mounting, or not nice behavior. In those instances please immediately go get your dog and either hold in your lap or while standing (thus removing them from play) until ask to put dog back in the play session.
Unspayed or unneutered puppies are welcome only up to 10 months of age, puppies older must show written proof of spay or neuter from your Veterinarian. Females in season cannot participate.
One dog per adult.
Adults responsible for their dogs must be 18 years of age or older.
Children/Minors may only attend "if" there is one adult to watch the dog and one adult to watch the children. For the safety of the dogs in play they must remain seated with the parent or legal guardian at all times. Only "well behaved" children are able to attend. For the safety of the dogs, people, and child absolutely no running, yelling, going in and out the front door, will be tolerated and may be ask to leave immediately for the safety and quality experience of all (no refund will be granted). Children may not pet other peoples dogs without the asking the owner of the said dog and having parent present to supervise. If children are unable to comply, for the quality of the experience and safety of the group as a whole, they will not be able to attend future sessions.
Do NOT bring dogs to the facility who are or may be ill. This includes but is not limited to dogs who are throwing up, diarrhea, not eating or drinking normally, coughing, sneezing, pink eyes, nose or eye discharge, or those who have been spayed or neutered in under 14 days (or over if advised by your Veterinarian accordingly). The health of not only the dogs in this play group, but those of all my puppy classes and private lessons could be affected, thus please leave dogs at home and seek an appointment with your Veterinarian if their health is in question. "Thank You."
Any collars or harnesses other than flat collars should be removed prior to play.
Dogs coming and going from facility and while in parking lot must be leashed at all times (even when being carried)! Main avenue is a busy street with fast moving cars. During Play when coming or going from facility please ask for the assistance of the Trainer at the door for safety of the loose dogs in play.
The front door and inside safety wire gate must "NEVER" be open at the same time! One owner and dog entering and/or exiting at a time.
It is recommended that your dog’s nails be kept trimmed and in some cases may be required.
The play sessions will be held on Saturday evenings, from 6pm to 7pm. The fee for each session is $6.00, regardless of your arrival time. Exact cash is required.
Reservations are required, both to control the size of the group and to notify participants of any canceled sessions. Reservations must be made a minimum of 48 hours prior to the Small Dog Play Group by phone or e-mail.
No leg lifting marking/urinating behavior on the walls, furniture, or other equipment! Dogs with marking behavior will be unable to attend. For normal potty accidents on the floor/rubber mats please see below for clean up details.
Potty areas are limited to the indoor facility potty and the fire hydrant near the street. The bushes and planters in the parking lots, facility walls, as well as the surrounding residential areas/the neighbors and commercial buildings located next door on both sides, as well as in back of the facility, are off limits! Always clean up after your puppy or dog whether inside the facility, the litter box, or the fire hydrant near the street. When using the inside litter box, please pick up any spilled litter by your dog and place back inside the litter box off of the floor. Please always carry plastic bags for quick and easy cleanup.
For potty accidents inside the facility on the floor/rubber mats: while the rubber floor will not absorb urine, if your puppy urinates on an area where it interlocks, it will seep underneath the mats. This just means that I need to be aware of it so that I can pull up the mat after class and thoroughly clean it. It is the owners responsibility to watch and clean up after their dog. Urine is to be mopped up with mop that is provided. Anytime the urine is where the mats interlock, you must make a small circle with chalk to mark the spot after mopping, so after class it can be cleaned underneath. Please bring pooper bags for quick clean up. For poop there are pooper bags in the facility if needed. Clean up thoroughly with either paper towels and cleaning spray or Lysol wipes, afterwards please mop the spot as well, again please circle area if is where mats interlock.
Do not park in road or to the side of it between The Right Steps Training Facility and adjacent building at any time! This is area must not be blocked as large vehicles and semi come and go at all hours. There is one Disabled Parking Space in front of the facility reserved for those autos displaying proper disability license plates or hanging tag.
