~ Puppy Primer Class ~ |

"Is your puppy eight to twelve weeks of age"? Yes?!?! Then we have great news for you and your new puppy! Your Veterinarian can provide you with a Free, four week class (4 consecutive weeks)! You are probably now wondering "how do we sign up" & "what is a Puppy Primer Class"?!?!? Please read on.... Our Puppy Primer Class is a great starting point for early socialization for very young puppies! Please keep in mind the prime socialization window for puppies begins to close very quickly at 12 to 14 weeks of age! Puppies will get to meet other puppies (different breeds, sexes, and sizes) their own age safely on leash, meet other people (like other puppies, other people look different to puppies as well), and begin to realize their new world can be an exciting and fun place. As well as help shy puppies begin to build confidence and come out of their shell as the weeks go by. Keeping in mind the primary socialization period for your puppy ends at 12 weeks, after that time, it may be more difficult for you to convince your puppy that new things are good things. "A good/positive socialization history in a young puppy can greatly reduce the risk of aggression later on". We play fun games to help puppies with socializing and building confidence (a few examples: #1: pass the puppy, so they may meet and be handled by other puppy parents, #2: on leash puppy/puppy introductions, #3: introduce puppies to new surfaces to walk on or in like mini agility tunnels, hula-hoops, and more.) For new Puppy Primer Clients on their first week we handout Reading Homework (these great handouts are very helpful to give new puppy parents a great starting point for setting their puppy and family up for success! We highly recommend our Clients take the time to read articles in full). Classes are for all size and breeds of puppies (both mixed and pure bred and from toy, small, medium, large, to giant sized breeds). Please read the Puppy Primer Requirements listed below. Once your puppy meets 'all' qualifications/requirements please contact us by phone or e-mail to make your Reservation (we need no later than the Thursday before 11:00a.m. to reserve your space). For puppies that qualify, The Right Steps Puppy Primer Class, is held on a four week, rotating schedule, so you never have to wait for a class to start. You can begin on any week and then attend four consecutive classes. The class runs for 45 minutes each week for four weeks.

#1: *Puppies are between the ages of 8 to 12 weeks of age to the day. #2: Must have had at least one vaccination given after 7 weeks of age. #3: Puppies must have been in your home for more than 10 days. #4: Proof of all vaccines (Breeder Statements & Veterinarian Exam & Vaccine Invoices/Receipts) so far to date (copy facility may keep) must be included. #5: Our Puppy Primer Application “must" be signed or stamped by "your" Veterinarian's Office”. #6: Make a Reservation no later than 11:00a.m. the Thursday prior to the first class. ~ All must be met for the health/safety of all the pups! ~ "Thank You" ~

The Right Steps Training Facility is an indoor facility, with an indoor potty place and a solid rubber floor. The facility is fully cleaned and disinfected to ensure a safe experience for your puppy. The facility is located at 6247 Main Ave in Orangevale, just north of Greenback on the west side of Main Ave. We have a great Reputation (we are known for our safe training facility, years of experience, and our kind, humane, and fun training methods ~ We strive for a positive & fun learning environment!). Please click on the links below to print an Application, Liability Release, & Facility Rules. These will be required at the start of your first class at the entrance door to The Training Facility. When making your reservation we need exact dates/information please: Puppy's Date of Birth, Date you brought your puppy home, and Vaccine Dates. "Thanks" ~ :o) *Please Note: For puppies older than 12 weeks we offer a great "Junior Puppy Training & Socialization Class" ~ It is our 'only' class that offers a 'complimentary' off leash play session (great for promoting 'nice' play & for help with bite inhibition)! Junior Puppy Training Class starts with an informative puppy parent lecture (examples of what we cover: jumping, play biting, house training, management, to name a few) the following weeks we work on all of the basics with both hand signals and verbal cues with your puppy (recalls, sit, downs, stays, puppy push ups, attention walking, and loose leash walking).
