Cancellation Policy & Facility Policies

1.a. Puppy Group Classes: The $125.00 payment (cash, check, or Pay Pal Online), complete application packet, and all vaccine records/Vet. Receipts/Invoices to date (including proof of Veterinarian Exam by 'your' Veterinarian) must be received no later than 48 hours prior to your first class date and starting time to reserve your space. "Once 48 hours prior to the first class has passed there are no refunds for classes and classes are not transferable". As our classes are kept small to allow for personalized attention, students are purchasing a specific class space, date, and time whether puppy &/or owner is or is not present.

1.b. The "Complimentary" Playtime with our Group Puppy Classes is "Complimentary" for puppies who play nicely and appropriately. Please note: Clients are paying only for the Class Time, not the play time. Please understand it is important the bulk of the puppies have a "positive" experience with the play time. As and when needed puppies will be pulled from the 'complimentary' playtime, but still attend class. The goal is to set puppies up for success, not failure! Trainer decision if final. No refunds.

1.c. As of October 2009 & going forward, please note, the Jr. '&' Sr. Puppy Classes "Complimentary" Playtime Format 'has changed' as follows....

Junior Puppy Group Classes will include an optional but encouraged approximate 20-25 minutes "complimentary" 'off leash' playtime. This 'complimentary' playtime is for puppies who play nicely and appropriately. Please note: Clients are paying only for the Class Time, not the play time. Please understand it is important the bulk of the puppies have a "positive" experience with the play time &/or meet and greet. As and when needed puppies will be pulled from the 'complimentary' playtime, but still attend class. The goal is to set puppies up for success, not failure! Trainer decision if final. No refunds.

Senior Puppy Group Classes will include an optional but encouraged 15 minute "complimentary" 'on leash' group play session. These play sessions content may vary (they may include: tricks, leave it, agility fun equipment to build confidence, go to your spot, clicker practice and exercises, or other fun options) after each class. However, these classes do not include an off leash play session.

1.d. For Private Lessons purchased 'with' a Group Class as a discounted package &/or a Class Make Up session, they must be scheduled and completed before their Class Graduates. Lessons not scheduled and completed would be forfeited.

2. Specialty Group Classes & Adult Dog Group Classes: The class fee/total payment (cash or check), complete application packet, and all vaccine records/Vet. Receipts/Invoices to date (including proof of Veterinarian Exam by 'your' Veterinarian) must be received no later than 48 hours prior to your first class date and starting time to reserve your space! "Once 48 hours prior to the first class has passed there are no refunds for classes and classes are not transferable". 3. Puppy Group Classes: Please choose your Class Date and Time carefully as there are "no" free make up group class sessions offered. For students who miss a week(s), the homework is sent out via e-mail, so the said student may keep up with the class or continue to train at home. There are no refunds. Classes are not transferable. Reminder: you are purchasing a specific class space, date, and time whether you and/or your puppy attends the class or not.

4. All Other Group Classes: Please choose your Class Date and Time carefully as there are "no" free make up group class sessions offered. For students who miss a week(s), the homework is sent out via e-mail, so the said student may keep up with the class or continue to train at home. There are no refunds. Classes are not transferable. Reminder: you are purchasing a specific class space, date, and time whether you and/or your puppy/dog attends the class or not.

5a. Children & Puppy or Dog Group Classes: Please note only "well behaved children" age 10 years and older are allowed and encouraged to attend puppy classes with parental supervision (at all times). Children attending ages 10 and over must be well behaved and not disruptive to the puppy classes, other students, and trainer (examples but not limited to: no running, no yelling, interrupting the trainer while talking, standing or lying on chairs, out-talking the trainer, up and down up and down in chairs, in/out of the training facility, etc.) for their safety, safety of puppies and clients in class, & as well as out of respect for the other paying clients there for "puppy training". Trainer decision is final. If a child is no longer able to attend due to disrupting the class parents will be notified in writing via e-mail, there are no refunds, it is the parent's sole responsibility to make arrangements for child care at home so they may come and train the puppy in the "puppy and/or dog" class. "Please understand these are puppy classes to train puppies and their handlers".

5b. For families with young children age 9 years and younger and/or childcare issues we do offer Private Lessons by appointment for both puppies and dogs and their families. Standard Private Lesson Fee applies.

5c. "Please Understand: Clients are here to train puppies/dogs and need to be able to hear the Trainer ~ Trainer as well needs to be able to focus on paying students and not supervise clients children".

6. Private Lessons: Private, Semi-Private, and Group Private Lessons are by appointment therefore cancellations or reschedules must be received no later than 5 days (120 hours) prior to the Lesson. Notification received after 5 days (120 hours) may result in the forfeit of the full lesson price as payments for Private Lessons are due at time of scheduling appointment to reserve Private Lesson. No refunds.

7. Refund Policy on Private Lesson Packages: Discount Package Requirements: A 3 week package must be completed within 5 weeks from the date of purchase and 4 week package must be completed within 6 weeks of purchase. Lessons not completed will be forfeited. No refunds. Discount Package Sales are final, no refunds. It is the sole responsibility of the purchaser to book/use their private lessons during our business hours: 916-966-6883.

8. Pee Wee Play/Small Dog Play Group: Cancellations must be made a minimum of 48 hours prior to the play group. Clients canceling after the required 48 hours will be assessed the $6.00 for the missed session when they next attend or a bill mailed to be paid in full upon receipt.

9. Sick or Hurt Puppies: If during the 6 week Training Program your puppy (who is currently signed up for and currently attending a puppy class) becomes ill or hurt and your Veterinarian says puppy cannot come to class either for the health of the other puppies in class &/or your puppy's health; we will pull your puppy from the class you have signed up at that time. Once your Veterinarian gives us confirmation of your puppy's good health and that they may return to class (we contact your Vet. to confirm health status), we will place you and your puppy into the next new class opening that is available, so you may continue your puppy's training. Please make us aware of any concerns as soon as possible. This is the only circumstance in which a puppy's owner is allowed to transfer their payment to a new class space within The Right Steps Group Training Program.

10. Spays or Neuters: Puppies spayed or neutered do not qualify as sick or hurt puppies and the transfer option is not available. Please keep in mind it is the responsibility of the puppy's owner to schedule their spay/neuter surgery accordingly (puppies who are spayed or neutered are unable to attend class within the first 14 days from Surgery minimum, if no complications).

11. Student Store: All sales are final, no refunds.

12a. Checks/Refund: Once a check has been deposited for services, if a refund is granted, it will not be until after 10 business days from date deposited (to allow adequate time for the check to be paid out and not returned for any reason by issuers Bank), on the 11th business day a refund check would be mailed.

12b. Returned/Bounced Checks: If a Client's check is returned for any reason, the said Client is responsible for any and all fees incurred due to this error, a $25.00 returned check fee, and the face value of the check to be paid by cash or Pay Pal immediately (in under 30 days).

13.a Gift Certificates: All sales are final, no refunds, non-transferable. Original Gift Certificates must be presented, copies are not valid. Gift Certificates are available for services only, not product for sale. Full value of Gift Certificate is available only for the first 60 days from original purchase date (*See 12b for additional information/details below.). Gift Certificates must be used for services during our business hours. It is the sole responsibility of the receiver to book/use their classes &/or private lessons during our business hours before they reach the 60 days from purchase date: 916-966-6883.

13b.*Gift Certificates (Continued): Gift Certificates are valid for 60 calendar days from original purchase date for full face value to be used toward training services. After the 60 days (starting day #61) from original purchase date, the individual Gift Certificate immediately starts decreasing in value by "$10.00 per calendar day". At this stated rate, once the value decreases the total Gift Certificate Amount at or below the original purchase price, the Gift Certificate is worth $0.00 value and void/non-useable.

14. We welcome & encourage you to come and watch a Group Training Class or attend one of our Free Puppy Seminars. Please call or e-mail to find what days and times our group classes are running so you (no puppy/dog) may stop by and observe the trainer and students in action.

15. Ethic Statement: For students or potential students whose dogs have behavior issues which would be better addressed by a "Dog Behaviorist" or "Dog Trainer who Specializes in the specific issue of concern" referrals will be provided to those specializing in positive methods for these areas of expertise.
